Who we are
Portland AI Engineers brings together software developers at all experience levels who are passionate about building with generative AI technologies. We focus on practical applications that solve real-world problems by leveraging existing language models and the surrounding tools ecosystem.
Community First: We believe in-person meetings create the strongest foundations for learning and collaboration. While we may explore additional formats based on community interest, face-to-face gatherings will always remain our core.
Inclusive Presentations: Whether you're working on a simple prototype or an enterprise solution, we welcome your insights. We accommodate different presentation styles and comfort levels to ensure everyone can share their knowledge in a way that works for them.
Continuous Evolution: As curators of this community, we commit to learning from each event and adapting to serve members better. We welcome your feedback and ideas for venues, formats, and topics.

What is an AI Engineer? An AI Engineer is a software developer who integrates existing language model capabilities into products that solve real-world problems. We leverage AI both as a pair programmer to enhance our development process and as components within our applications. From frontier APIs to on-device solutions, LLMs to multimodal systems, we build scalable, user-centric applications ranging from personal hobby projects to enterprise-scale solutions.
