Presenting

Share Your AI App Development Journey

Are you building innovative AI applications, exploring the architecture of generative AI systems, or solving unique challenges with AI tools? Portland AI Engineers is looking for passionate developers like you to share your technical knowledge and real-world experiences.

Benefits of Presenting

  • Developer-to-Developer Knowledge Exchange: Share technical insights and implementation strategies with fellow AI practitioners

  • Build Connections: Network with peers who may become collaborators or future colleagues

  • Refine Your Ideas: Get valuable feedback from other experienced developers

Presentation Formats

We welcome both individual and multi-presenter talks in various formats:

  • Technical Deep Dives (60 minutes): Comprehensive explorations of an AI application, architecture, or implementation pattern

  • Lightning Talks (10-15 minutes): This event type focused multiple presentations on specific techniques, tools, or challenges

  • Alternative Formats: We are happy to consider proposals for panel discussions, structured demos, or other innovative approaches

Don't feel you need to present alone! We're happy to coordinate multi-presenter sessions where several speakers can address related topics in shorter segments.

What We're Looking For

  • Technical applications of AI in software development

  • Architecture patterns and system design for AI integration

  • Development practices for AI applications (testing, deployment, monitoring)

  • Prompt engineering techniques and strategies

  • Ethical considerations in AI implementation

Speaker Guidelines

We're really excited that you’re joining us as a presenter at our Ping meetup! Your expertise and perspective are valuable to our community, and we're looking forward to hearing what you have to share with the group.

We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to prepare your presentation and share your knowledge with us. We understand the effort that goes into creating an informative and engaging talk, and we're grateful for your willingness to contribute.

The guidelines we've provided below are designed to help make your presentation as successful as possible. They reflect what has worked well for presenters in the past and should help you connect effectively with our community.

The Presentation is not a Commercial:

  • While you are welcome to name software, services, and vendors in your presentation, the presentation should not be an advertisement.

Know Your Audience:

  • Our members consist of software developers at all experience levels. We are hands-on builders seeking to discover and compare approaches, and push boundaries as generative AI evolves.

  • Tailor your presentation content accordingly.

Define Your Topic Clearly:

  • Choose a specific topic that provides value to the audience.

  • Avoid overly broad subjects; focus on a particular aspect or case study.

Engagement is Key:

  • Include interactive elements such as Q&A sessions, polls, or live demos.

  • Encourage audience participation and discussions to foster a collaborative environment.

Structure Your Presentation:

  • Start with an introduction that outlines what you’ll cover.

  • Organize your content into clear sections (e.g., introduction, main points, conclusion).

  • Summarize key takeaways at the end.

Use Visual Aids Wisely:

  • Incorporate slides, diagrams, or videos to complement your speech, but avoid overloading slides with text.

  • Ensure visuals are clear and relevant to the topic.

Keep It Time-Bound:

  • Adhere to the allotted time; aim for a 15-20 minute presentation followed by a discussion.

  • Practice to ensure you can cover everything within the time limit.

Be Prepared for Questions:

  • Allocate time for questions and encourage attendees to ask for clarification or further information.

  • Be open to feedback and suggestions.

Technical Setup:

  • Test your technology (microphone, projector, software) before the presentation.

  • Have a backup plan in case of technical difficulties (e.g., printed notes, alternate devices).

Provide Resources:

  • Offer additional resources, references, or reading materials for attendees to explore more about the topic.

  • Consider sharing your slides or handouts after the presentation.

Follow-Up:

  • Engage with attendees after the meetup via email or social media.

  • Solicit feedback on your presentation to improve for future events.
